After an initial first impression disappointment, we found we really enjoyed Taos, NM. Taos is at the base of ski country so we are at a higher elevation than in Santa Fe. The terrain is very rough as you approach the city and then just as suddenly you are ascending into mountainous areas. Had a really neat shopping area that was full of local retailers & restaurants.
We stayed at a really great Bed and Breakfast. Always enjoy staying at B&B's because of the people you generally meet (exception being the B&B in Santa Fe).
We found a terrific restaurant (Lambert's) that had a great atmosphere, outstanding service, and the food was out of this world. Highly recommended.
