We left Durango this morning. We enjoyed every minute there and we both highly recommend it! Last nite we stayed in one of the oldest hotels in Durango, the Strater Hotel. Lots and lots of character. We love those kinds of places.
So much to do and see in Durango. We loved the hot springs yesterday. We would go from the warm mineral pool to the hot mineral pool to the cool mineral pool. It was a gorgeous day with temps in the 80's and a clear, blue sky. The pools were surrounded by flowers and the setting was in the mountains. If we couldn't relax there, we couldn't relax anywhere!!! :-)
This morning we were on the road again heading to Jackson Hole. We drove about 8 hours and only have 4 more tomorrow. Wow, wow, wow!!! What amazing scenery we saw today! We drove the Million Dollar Highway out of Durango and it is a "must see". I'm thankful I wasn't driving on that road!!! At some points you just looked straight down off the road. Waaaaaayyy down!!! We passed through Silverton and Ouray. What a beautiful little town Ouray is!
We just couldn't help but be in awe of God's beautiful creation! At some points it was so beautiful that it just took my breath away. We couldn't get over how we would go around a corner and the whole terrain changed. It was fun seeing what was around the bend. And there were a LOT of bends! Gerry even let me drive in the mountains today. My first hairpin curves. :-) Another first today was seeing my first moose! He was just standing in a clearing right off the road. They are BIG!
Tomorrow we're off to Jackson Hole for 4 days and can't wait to see the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone. We are loving our adventure and can't believe how blessed we are to be able to be doing this!
Love to all and we'll be posting more in a couple of days.....and hopefully more pictures to come. :-)
As much as I like the food pictures, I'd really love to see some pictures of this gorgeous scenery! How exciting to be able to see a moose out in the wild. Sounds like quite an adventure, glad you're both having such a good time. Can't wait to see you in a month!
