Had a delightful time in Santa Fe but now time to move on. Got lots of culture in Santa Fe with all the art galleries and museums. I know all my friends who really know me have to be shaking their heads in amusement on that one, but I REALLY did go through a number of them. One highlight from yesterday was going thru the New Mexico State Capitol Building. It's quite modern and really public-friendly. Even went into the Governor's office. She wanted to ask us to come in for lunch but we said we were on a real tight schedule; she was very disappointed. (anybody believing that one?).
We really loved Santa Fe. Such a thriving small city. Hard to believe it's only a city of 68,000 yet so on fire. Don't plan to move there though...it's the 4th most expensive place to buy a home after Boston, San Francisco, and NY.
Played golf today at Black Mesa. In '04 it was ranked near the top of the best places to play golf in the US. Because of the drought, it wasn't in the best of shape, nevertheless a great golfing experience.
Now in Taos for a few days. Had a fabulous dining experience this evening at a place called Lambert's. It never ceases to amaze me that you can fine excellent dining in almost any locale in the US.
Staying at a B&B called Hacienda del Sol; staying in a part of the building built in 1804--talk about character!!! Love this place. Temp will be down to about 42 degrees tonight...won't be eating breakfast outdoors tomorrow morning.
