On the Oregon coast....

We hope you ALL are having a wonderful 4th of July weekend!  At this point we're not sure where we'll be on the 4th, but hopefully down in Bandon so that Gerry will be there to tee off at Bandon Dunes on the 5th.  He's already signed up to tee off at 9:30 on the 6th at Pacific Dunes.  He's soooo excited about that.  I convinced him that he really needed to play 2 of the courses while he's there.....didn't take THAT much convincing!  :-)

We spent yesterday and last nite at Cannon Beach.  It's a very cute town right on the coast.  We enjoyed walking into town and seeing what was there and then walking back along the beach.  We had a wonderful dinner right in front of where we stayed.  It was called Newman 988 (we think!)  Anyhow, the sign says Italian/French.  We weren't sure of that combination, but it was wonderful!  I had the best crabcake I have EVER eaten (Gerry agreed!).  Gerry's salmon was wonderful.  We are eating LOTS of salmon out here!  Just doesn't get any fresher than here!

By the way, highly recommend Hallmark accomodations, Cannon lodging.  We stayed in The Courtyard and had a lovely room with a fireplace.  We actually used it last nite to take the chill out of the room.  Very cozy!

Today we headed down the coast.  We were soooo excited about the drive along the coast.  Only problem, VERY little of the drive is along the coast!!!  My mama told me that if I can't say anything nice, not to say anything at all.....We're here in Newport, OR.  We have a lovely room, walked downtown to see the historic area, ate downtown.....we have another day here which will probably be spent taking a walk on the beach and then sitting on our deck reading.  And this is probably the last post until we reach Bandon!  :-)  My mama would be SO proud!

Have a fabulous 4th !!!

A few pictures....

Interesting rock formation in Cannon Beach.

These are soooo comfy.  Oh yes, one of them is Jan's and one is Ger's (just in case you were wondering)
This is the entrance to our lodge in Cannon Beach.... lovely flowers everywhere throughout the beach community.
High above the Pacific Ocean on the way from Cannon Beach to Newport.

Picture loses some of the perspective of just how high over the beach we were.  Really hard to believe how those laborers carved out this road out of the mountainside.

This is Ger at the Vietnam monument in Newport, Oregon.
