Gerry was out bright and early this morning for his round of golf. As you can see from his blog, he had a GREAT time today and can't wait for tomorrow.
So I decided to take the map and walk into town. Gerry said it was a couple of miles and to just follow the rode we had driven in on. Well, I had a map and I thought I could take a shortcut through neighborhoods and get there - NO problem!
I wasn't too far into the walk when I began to think I should have followed Ger's advice. I ended up walking probably twice as far as I needed to. I ended up zig-zagging my way into town, finally! Found a coffee shop for some coffee and a bagel. Met a lovely older couple and we sat and chatted for almost an hour. They even invited me to come by their home, if I had time. How sweet was that! :-)
I left the coffee shop and had fun looking through all the shops in Bandon. I found a beautiful boutique with a very friendly owner. We had a fun time chatting and 1/2 hour later I left there. Felt like I'd just visited with an old friend. So much fun and so interesting meeting new people, finding out where they moved from and why.
I then decided to head back to our motel. I came to a fork in the road - no problem - I had a map! I took the scenic route. I ended up at a point that I knew I either had to walk all the way back or head to the beach. Since we were staying on the beach I knew I would eventually get back. :-) No problem! So I headed to the beach. It was in the 60's today, sunny, VERY windy!!! They say it's windy here ALL the time. I DO NOT like wind....breezes are nice.....big difference! So I'm now on the beach and there is nobody else on the beach. I've got this cliff (or hill) on the left and waves crashing into the beach on the right - and these big huge rock formations in the water.....kind of creepy, actually - beautiful, but creepy! So I walk and walk until I see these big rocks up ahead and I'm not sure I can get through them to the other side....where our motel was. Sooooo, I turn around and head back to a set of stairs I had seen. I took the stairs and ended up at the top of the cliff and what a spectacular view! I was snapping pix all the way - of me with the wind beating me endlessly....NOT a good hair day! :-) Anyhow, I was ecstatic because I knew I could get to our place now. So I just relaxed and enjoyed the view and the walk. I'm not sure how many miles I walked today, but I think tomorrow I'll just follow the road Gerry told me to take! Lesson learned!!! :-)
