Golf at 9000 feet above sea level

Played the Raven Golf Club, a beautiful course in Silverthorne Co, that plays at 9,000 feet above sea level. I was hoping I would experience the same thing that I've heard for years....that the golf ball will travel further because of reduced air resistance at this altitude.  Sorry, I didn't see much difference...darn!  But frankly, that didn't deter me because the views of the surrounding mountains are breathtaking.

Had the good fortune to get paired up with residents Tom & Gloria on the first day at Raven.  They are a very interesting couple originally from Minnesota but have been retired and living in Silverthorne for 12 years.  This is one of the more active retired couples I've met... weekly they play a couple rounds of golf, go on a 2 day horseback camping trip way up in the mountains, dance at least 3 nights every week, and the list goes on.  Made me tired just listening.   We are going to meet up with them again in a 2 weeks for another round of golf.

It's amazing how the weather can change so dramatically in a very short period of time.  Yesterday's round started off with nothing but sunshine but after finishing the 15th hole, the most dramatic rain storm came rolling through the mountains and I gave it up.  I'm sure if I would have stayed in the rain shelter, the storm would have cleared quickly but by that time my game was in such disarray, I had no qualms about calling it a day.

Here are some pictures from the Raven at 3 Sisters.  I also added some pictures, totally unrelated to golf, but of some sunrise pictures taken from our balcony.  Unfortunately, the pictures don't begin to capture the real beauty but you get the idea....

Where does the money
come from....every where you
look you see beautiful vacation homes

The 8th hole... a beautiful par 3 that
drops in elevation about 200 feet.

Unfortunately I had double bogey but
yesterday, I birdied this hole.

What would I have done

us as photographer

I don't remember but I'm sure I must
have sunk this putt :-)

The photographer did a nice job

If I were the envious type, it would
be real easy to covet some of these homes

If you haven't guessed by now,
Jan loves taking pictures of mountain
streams.

.......she also likes to take pictures
of flowers
