Some places are hard to leave!

What a wonderful time we had at the Lodge at Sandpoint!  We spent our second day there just sitting on the dock reading.  When we got a little warm, we would just jump in the beautiful, clear, clean water to cool off.  We swam out to the floating deck to chill for about an hour and then we would swim back to the dock to start the cycle all over again.  :-)  What a wonderful, relaxing day!

The next day we were off to Glacier National Park.  We spent the night at Glacier Lake Lodge - I MUCH prefer the Lodge at Sandpoint!!!  It's a very old railroad lodge - quite an amazing building.  We checked in and then went up to dinner.  Gerry changed into a nice shirt.  I, on the other hand, decided to leave my Wachovia Golf tournament T-shirt on for dinner.  Yes, I like to dress for dinner!  :-)

Anyhow, we sat down at a table for 2.  Shortly after, a couple sat down at the table closest to us.  Gerry and I were sitting and talking, when this guy came over and asked me if someone gave me the t-shirt or if I had actually been there.  We told him that we had been to the tournament and we actually lived in Charlotte (since most people don't know where Fort Mill is).  Ends up that they are from Charlotte and live in Quail Hollow where the tournament is held.  How amazing is that?!!  We ended up sitting with them for coffee and chatting for quite a while.  Very, very nice couple!  What a small world!  Love those times..... One of those little blessings from God!  :-)

The next day we took a tour in the Red Bus and a boat ride on one of the lakes.  We had tried to get on the 8 hour tour of "The way to the sun" road.  Thank you, God, that we didn't get on that tour.  That would have been about 6 hours too long!  :-)  We much prefer to get out when we want to get out and stop at the places where WE want to stop.  So, we headed up to the east entrance for "The way to the sun" road.  Wow......what a spectacular drive!!!  It was absolute beauty from the east entrance to the west entrance!!!  The pictures just won't capture the absolute amazing scenes along the way.  Highly recommend that drive if you ever go there.

Next stop, Kalispell, Big Fork and Whitefish.  We really liked Big Fork - so quaint and so pretty and right on Flathead Lake.  Whitefish is also quaint, a little bigger than Big Fork and close to a smaller lake.  After exploring the area for a couple of days we decided it was time to be on the road again.  We were going to go back through Yellowstone and Jackson, but everybody must be getting in their last minute vacations before school starts because we couldn't find a room anywhere.  So we decided we would just head out to Park City a few days early.  After a night in Salt Lake City, here we are in Park City and ready to enjoy our 10 days here.  Wow, we may actually get the BIG suitcase out of the car!
:-)

Here are the pictures from Sandpoint, ID and Glacier National Park:

this view... that stream is WAY WAY
below us on the mountain drive

Nice all the snow still on the
slopes... usually the snow has
melted by this time but last
winter was a record for snow fall.

When you are on this road, you
really wonder how in the world this was
constructed... the view from this road
was nothing short of spectacular.

Notice how clear the water is.

Just had to stop here and
enjoy this mountain stream

Oh my, this guy doesn't
realize how cold the water is!
