Changes - yes, we've made a few!

Well, here we are in Park City, UT and Gerry is off to play a little golf today.  We hear there are lots of beautiful golf courses around here and Ger hopes to find as many as he can!  :-)

We are enjoying walking around Park City and trying all of their wonderful restaurants - way too many to choose from!  We enjoyed a nice dinner the other nite sitting outside on a patio, right next to the ski lift, with a nice breeze blowing.  After dinner we got on the ski lift and had a nice 45 minute ride.  What a great way to see all over the Park City area.

What a beautiful place!!!  Can't believe how many huge homes there are - not just here, but it seems like everywhere we go.  I still remember that every time my dad would see a big home he would say,  "Where does all that money come from?"  We've said that a few times!

We will be checking into our timeshare tomorrow and we are looking forward to being in one place for a week!  AND being able to fix breakfast and lunch right there.  Not only will it save us money, but calories as well.  :-)

Gerry and I find it so interesting that we so often will be thinking the same thing at the same time.  Maybe that comes from being married 47 years this month, or maybe those are God whispers to both of us putting the idea in our heads.  Whatever it is, we had one of those on our way here from Montana.  We were driving along and had just passed the sign for the turnoff if heading to Oregon.  We both sighed as we drove right on past it, wishing we had the time to go back there for a while.  We both said that, if we weren't committed to building this house in FL, we would really consider renting a house someplace that we really loved, for a year.  That's the vagabond part of us speaking!  :-)

Anyhow, at the same time we both had the idea that we didn't have to head back east yet.  We could fly back to Charlotte out of Denver; see Heather and the girls, friends, Dr. and dentist visits, etc. and then fly back to Denver.  We will then take the scenic drive to Phoenix where we will spend Oct. through the middle of Dec., then drive to Dallas to visit our family there and then on to Charlotte for Christmas with Heather and the girls before heading down to FL.  Once we get into our new home we know we won't be traveling for a while!  So let's do it while we can!!!

So as soon as we got into our hotel in Salt Lake City, we got on our computers to find lodging at all of these places.  We had to do it the most economical way possible and so this was challenging!  But we did it!  We would have had to find lodging either back east or somewhere out west and so....why not!

This will allow us to be in Phoenix to see Alex (our grandson) play hockey, Dec. 2-4.  We are excited about that!  This is his Senior year and so we want to watch him play while we can.  We also have wonderful friends in Phoenix.  It is always great to see them!  And we are hoping to see cousins while out there, too.  And the fact that we just plain love the Phoenix, Scottsdale area.  We will even get to spend a week in Sedona.  Change can be a very good thing!

Now for a few pictures of our drive from Montana to Utah, Salt Lake City, and Park City.... enjoy.

In front of the Great Salt Lake ...
honestly, was underwhelmed

SLC has a terrific shopping and dining
area called The Gateway.
Guessing it was developed
prior to the 2002 Olympics

They are VERY proud of their new affiliation
with the PAC 12...signs like this EVERYWHERE

Ski trails in Park City

You may remember this was the site of
the 2002 Winter Olympics - Michael and Beth were here for that!

Took a 45 min. ride on the ski lift.
Great way to see Park City and surrounding area!
